Seahorses
3 Years to school age
Part of our Over 2's Ocean Unit
Children in Seahorses are encouraged to be independent in developing their personal, social and emotional skills.
For example, children are supported and encouraged to pour their own drinks throughout the day, put on their coats, wash their hands and wipe their own noses.
Children are encouraged to recognise their names and are offered lots of mark making opportunities to develop their drawing and writing skills.
Counting, problem solving, singing and rhymes are all part of the daily routine.
Children will continue to explore the outdoor area, where they can practice their climbing, balancing and develop their gross motor skills.
All practitioners have up to date Paediatric First Aid training.
The practitioner to child ratio is 1:8.
Mathematics focuses on children’s understanding of math's concepts, such as numbers, quantities, shapes, patterns, measures and spatial awareness.
During their time at Sandcastles, children will explore numbers and counting, link numbers and quantities, talk about 2D and 3D shapes, describe routes and positions, compare size, length, weight and capacity and talk about patterns.
